Multi-fuel furnaces are a dependable and renewable alternative for heating your home. These multi fuel furnaces can heat your home while being cost-effective and reliable. Best of all, they burn any of six renewable, natural fuel sources—wood pellets, distillers grain pellets, corn, wheat, rye or cherry pits—with minimal emissions and clean-burning, long-lasting fuel. And in New Hampshire, you get an incentive for installing one in your home.
New Hampshire’s pellet and wood pellet furnace industry will be getting a boost, thanks to the Public Utilities Commission which will fund a former federal stimulus program with $450,000 from the state’s Renewable Energy Fund.
Under the program the PUC will rebate the installation cost of fully automated wood pellet heating systems, to a maximum of $6,000.
That’s a full heating system, with a pellet furnace in the basement being fed automatically, controlled by a thermostat in the home.
The program will provide rebates to the first homeowners who sign up.
This is the second go-round for the program. The first program had some 96 homes switched to wood pellet furnaces.
About two-thirds of the state geographically and about 40% of the population don’t have access to natural gas.
Full details on the rebate program can be found on the PUC website.
