Corn Fueled Multi-Fuel Stoves are an Inexpensive Way to Heat Your Home

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, June 04, 2013

While crude oil prices continue to climb there is another way to heat your home that is inexpensive: corn.

Heating with corn used to be more popular, but it is experiencing a resurgence from multi-fuel stoves. Multi-fuel stoves are an alternative way to heat your home. With the rise in heating prices, more and more homeowners are looking for alternative ways to heat their homes.

Oil prices have risen every year, as a result oil has become an expensive way to heat your home all winter long.  The price of corn futures has stayed fairly consistent. As a result, mutli-fuel stoves using corn as fuel, is an efficient, cost effective, way to heat your home. With the steady price of corn, it is also easy to budget for. Multi-fuel stoves use the same amount of corn every year to keep your home warm.

Therefore, you know with consistency how much you will spend each winter on home heating. Corn is not subject to the regular and consistent price fluctuations that oil is.

Homeowners who heat their homes with corn like mulit-fuel stoves as a heat source. Not only is corn less expensive, it is also a green fuel, it is renewable energyMulti-fuel stoves take your home off the grid and lower your dependence on foreign oil.

If you live in the Midwest, heating with corn could be very economical. Additionally, when you heat with corn fueled multi-fuel stoves, the money you spend to heat your home stays local.

A Cold Winter is Expected – Multi Fuel and Pellet Stoves For Better Heat

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, October 09, 2012

Energy industry analysts consider the home heating season to be Oct. 1 through April 1. Home heating prices vary from fuel to fuel.

The real issue is the likelihood we’re in for a colder winter. Last winter was warmest winter we’ve ever had in many parts of the nation.

Homeowners shouldn’t expect two years in a row of record-breaking warmth. And while it is hard to put much stock in long-term forecasts, a developing, weak El Nino may offer clues to what the coming season holds. If it’s a weak El Nino, we get slightly more snowfall than normal and slightly cooler temperatures. More oil customers are signing up for budget oil plans in anticipation of higher heating bills. Prices for wood pellets are stable, while firewood prices are harder to gauge. The Energy Information Administration reported that propane stocks nationwide are 32% higher than they were at this time last year. Residential heating oil prices, as of August, stood at an average of $3.92 per gallon, about 10 cents higher than at the start of the 2011-12 heating season.

Alternative heat

The relatively high cost of propane and home heating oil has some residents considering supplemental heating like pellet stoves and multi-fuel stoves.

With pellet stoves and multi-fuel stoves, you can heat your entire home, or you can use pellet stoves to supplement the heat that you have.

Pellet and multi fuel stoves have the same or better heating energy as wood, and they are considerably cheaper than fuel oil or propane.
