Switching to Pellet Furnaces Saves Money on Energy Bills

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, May 07, 2013

A project to install pellet furnaces in over 30 homes in New England, is saving money on residential heating bills. The homeowners participating are on track to save more than $50,000 a year on home heating now that they've replaced their oil burners with wood pellet furnaces.

St. Croix Stoves has created two different multi-fuel furnaces, the Revolution and the SCF-050, to help you save on your energy bills. Spring is the perfect time to make the switch. Both of our multi fuel furnaces are designed to burn pellets, corn, wheat, cherry pits, distiller’s grain pellets or rye. Using renewable fuels is an environmentally wise choice and can reduce traditional heating bills.

The “Revolution” multi fuel furnace virtually runs itself. It has a rotating ash and clinker removal system and is self-igniting as well as a revolutionary, patent-pending burn-pot and a dual hopper ignition system. Pellets are used for lighting the furnace; it then switches to the chosen fuel in the main hopper. The “Revolution” pot rotates every two hours without the unit ever shutting down.

The innovative features of the SCF-050 multi fuel furnace include: extended heat exchange surface, large clinker and ash pan, convenient fire viewing glass and direct thru-the-wall venting. The SCF-050 multi fuel furnace also includes a manually switchable two-speed room air blower. The digital control board can also be connected to an optional room thermostat. A unique clinker and ash removal system allows continuous furnace operation.

The “Revolution” multi-fuel furnace can be used for supplemental heat or as a stand-alone heater.  Our SCF-050 multi-fuel furnace supplies supplemental heat in conjunction with your present heating system or it can be used as a stand-alone heater.

Keep more cash in your pocket and make an environmentally sound decision.  Choose one of our St. Croix multi fuel furnaces for your home.

Reasons to Switch to Pellet Stoves for Heat

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, March 19, 2013

If you heat your home with oil, gas or electricity, your home heating costs have only been going up over the years. Fossil fuels prices are subject to uncontrolled environmental factors which make it impossible to budget for your home bills.

With pellet heat, not only is your home heating more efficient, it is more affordable and the prices for pellets won’t go up as winter goes on.  If you're looking to save money, consider heating with a pellet stove. There are so many benefits that heating with pellets can bring.

Here are some things you should know about heating with wood pellet stoves and furnaces.

Good for the environment. Wood pellet stoves use wood waste, like sawdust, that is turned into pellets. Wood pellets are a renewable energy.

Lower heating bills. Heating with pellet stoves will save you money on your heating bills.

Efficient. Pellet stoves are very efficient with a rating of more than 80%. St Croix pellet stoves are over 83% efficient.  With this efficiency you will get a lot of heat for the pellets you use.

Durable. Pellet stoves are very popular and are built to last. Your new pellet stove can give you a lifetime of less expensive, efficient heat.

Availability of pellets. Wood pellets are readily available. The price will not fluctuate during one winter, and you will always know what you are going to spend. If tow pallets are going to heat your home for a winter, you know that is all you need, and you can buy them at any time knowing that that is a fixed cost for the rest of the winter.

A pellet stove will cost you less to run, they are attractive and they good for the environment. In fact, right now there is even a federal tax credit of up to $300 for your new pellet stove purchase, making it the perfect time to buy.
