Multi-Fuel Furnaces to Heat Your Home for Less

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, August 20, 2013

If you have already decided to look for a better, more efficient furnace for you home this winter, you may have already consider wood fueled furnaces. But, have you thought about multi-fuel furnaces? Multi fuel furnaces have a distinct advantage over single fuel models. With a multi fuel furnace you can burn whichever fuel is cheapest when you need it. They are a convenient and economical way of heating your home.

Multi-fuel furnaces can be fueled by wood pellets, cherry pits, distiller’s grain, wheat, rye, or corn. With multi-fuel furnaces you can keep you heating bills to their lowest possible levels. If heating with rye is the least expensive this upcoming winter, then that is what you can heat with. They can also be used to give you backup or supplemental heat.

Many homeowners prefer using multi-fuel furnaces to cut down on greenhouse gases. Using bio-mass fuels for heat lowers the output of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Since multi-fuel options are renewable resources they are safe for the environment while they conserve energy.

Given the price volatility for oil and gas a multi fuel furnace gives you a way to heat your home and combat those constantly fluctuating fossil fuel costs. And, if the cost to heat your home with pellets is less than heating with cherry pits, switching from one to the other is as simple as turning the fuel selector knob.
